A methodological seminar titled “DEVELOPING LEARNERS’ EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND PRACTICAL APPLICATION ” was held with the aim of enhancing the professional competence of educators, refining foreign language teaching methods, and implementing modern educational technologies.
During the seminar, participants explored the theoretical foundations of emotional intelligence, its key components, and its significance for the personal development of learners. Particular attention was devoted to fostering emotional self-awareness, developing empathy and self-regulation skills, enhancing effective communication, and promoting constructive interaction in the process of foreign language learning.
The practical component of the seminar focused on introducing interactive methods and techniques designed to foster emotional intelligence in foreign language classes. Participants discussed the potential for incorporating role-playing activities, pair and group work, discussions, reflective exercises, and the analysis of communicative situations into the educational process. Emphasis was placed on the importance of creating a psychologically safe learning environment in which every learner has the opportunity to express their views freely, identify and understand emotions, and demonstrate respect for the feelings of others.
As a result of the seminar, participants deepened their understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of emotional intelligence development, exchanged teaching experiences, and identified prospects for implementing relevant methodologies in the educational process.
The methodological seminar contributed to enhancing teachers’ methodological awareness and confirmed the relevance of integrating emotional intelligence development into foreign language education as an important prerequisite for fostering communicative competence, social skills, and emotional maturity.
