From November 24 to November 28, 2025, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted Academic Integrity Week, a series of events aimed at developing a culture of honest learning and a responsible attitude toward the results of educational and scientific activities. (https://surl.li/nxmpoo)
Students, PhD students, stakeholders, and lecturers of the Faculty of Biology and Technology actively participated in all events of the week. During this period, they took part in the following activities:
- November 24, 2025 – Beginning of Academic Integrity Week.
- The week began with a survey of SNAU students regarding adherence to the principles of academic integrity, organized by the Department of Quality Assurance, Licensing, and Accreditation of SNAU. (https://surl.li/jcnuyb) The QUESTIONNAIRE was aimed at determining students’ understanding of academic integrity requirements, their attitudes toward academic plagiarism, and the effectiveness of measures implemented at the university to support academic culture. The survey is anonymous, and the results will be used only in a generalized form.
- November 24, 2025, 2:00 PM – Lecture by Dmytro Chumachenko “THE RENEWAL CONTINUES… WILL HIGHER EDUCATION KEEP UP WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?”. The speaker raised important issues regarding the transformation of education amid rapid GAI development. The faculty’s academic community was active in the discussion, asking relevant questions.
- November 25, 2025, 11:00 AM – Quiz battle “ACADEMIC INTEGRITY 100%”. Teams from various faculties demonstrated their knowledge of academic culture principles, teamwork skills, and the ability to quickly apply theory to practice. Students of the Faculty of Biology and Technology won a confident victory and took 1st place (https://surl.lt/pkpzcm), showing a high level of awareness regarding citation rules, responsible use of information, ethical behavior in the educational process, and academic responsibility. Throughout the competition, the students not only demonstrated deep knowledge but also confirmed that a culture of integrity is an important component of their professional training.
- November 26, 2025, 11:00 AM – Lecture by Artem Artiukhov “GAI AND ITS ETHICAL APPLICATION”. The discussion focused on the responsible use of generative tools, the risks of automated solutions, and the role of ethics in modern education. Students received useful recommendations on how to properly apply artificial intelligence in their studies and scientific work.
- November 27, 2025, 11:00 AM – Workshop “CITING WITHOUT PLAGIARISM: PRACTICAL TIPS FOR STUDENTS”. During the practical meeting, the academic community of the Faculty of Biology and Technology received practical tips on formatting reference lists, working with sources correctly, and avoiding academic plagiarism. The workshop provided listeners with tools they can apply when writing course papers, qualification theses, and scientific works.
- November 28, 2025, 11:00 AM – Online meeting with Mykhailo Pyrkha, the lead specialist on corruption prevention and detection at Sumy National Agrarian University. During the event, participants discussed:
- Key aspects of forming an anti-corruption culture at the university;
- Mechanisms for preventing and responding to corruption risks;
- The role of students and staff in maintaining the transparency and integrity of the educational process;
- University cooperation with government bodies in the field of corruption prevention.
- November 28, 2025, 12:15 PM – Open conversation with students involving representatives of the Student Committee for Partnership in Quality Assurance: “ACADEMIC INTEGRITY WITHOUT EMBELLISHMENT”. During the open discussion, students and committee representatives discussed real challenges, problematic situations, and ways to strengthen academic integrity in the university environment. The conversation took place in an open and trusting format, which allowed each participant to express their own position.
Throughout the week, faculty lecturers held short thematic “5 MINUTES ABOUT INTEGRITY” mini-discussions in class, highlighting the importance of honest interaction in the educational process.
Academic Integrity Week was an opportunity to deepen understanding of ethical norms, share perspectives, and develop a responsible attitude toward students’ own educational activities. The Faculty of Biology and Technology will keep supporting initiatives that promote academic culture because “to study honestly means to act honestly.”
