SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS, BREEDING, AND ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGY

On April 30, 2026, the Department of Genetics, Breeding, and Animal Biotechnology at Sumy National Agrarian University held a scientific seminar.

Leontii Mykhailovych Khmelnychyi, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences and Professor of the Department, delivered a presentation titled: “Application of Linear Classification Conformation Traits and Early Selection Predictors for Longevity in Dairy Cattle.” The session highlighted modern approaches to evaluating animals and improving the efficiency of breeding programs.

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department and PhD students participated in the event.

During the seminar, participants discussed the importance of conformation traits in determining the productivity and lifespan of cows, as well as the potential to use early indicators to predict the animals’ longevity.

Holding such scientific events facilitates the exchange of experience, updates scientific knowledge, and supports the implementation of modern approaches in livestock breeding practice.
