REPORT ON THE GUEST LECTURE ON SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

As part of the educational activities, a guest lecture on the topic “Social Emotional Learning” was held. The lecture was organized by Olha Berestok, a Senior Lecturer of the of Foreign Languages Department. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Gilda Martinez-Alba, Professor at the College of Education, Towson University. The event took place on October 9, 2025, in an online format via the Zoom platform and was attended by both university teachers and students. During her presentation, the speaker highlighted the key aspects of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), including its role in developing emotional intelligence, self-regulation, empathy, responsible decision–making, and building positive interpersonal relationships. Special attention was given to practical approaches for integrating SEL into the educational process and the importance of these skills during crisis situations, particularly amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. The information shared proved extremely valuable for both teachers and students, as it contributed to a deeper understanding of the needs of educational community members, the development of psychological resilience, and support for mental health in times of uncertainty. Following the lecture, an engaging discussion took place: the participants asked questions, shared personal experiences, and expressed sincere gratitude for the insightful and inspiring presentation.
