From February 19 to May 29, 2026, academic staff from the Faculty of Biology and Technology successfully completed a professional development course in the specialty 015 “Professional Education,” focused on the topic “Animal Welfare,” conducted as a series of webinars.
The 16-hour (0.53 ECTS credits) training aimed to enhance the professional skills of lecturers in ensuring proper conditions for the care, use, and protection of animals in accordance with current national and European standards.
During the course, participants explored topical issues of legislative regulation and the practical implementation of welfare for various animal species. As a result, the lecturers gained knowledge on:
- Key aspects of Ukrainian and European Union legislation regarding animal welfare;
- Current issues in ensuring the welfare of cattle under new legislative frameworks;
- Specifics of forensic veterinary examination as a tool for protecting animals from cruelty;
- Biosafety as an essential element of swine welfare;
- Modern approaches to ensuring the welfare of pigs in industrial production;
- Requirements and practical aspects of ensuring poultry welfare.
Participation in such events contributes to the professional development of faculty members, the improvement of educational course content, and the implementation of modern approaches to training specialists in the livestock sector. The knowledge gained will be integrated into the educational process, research activities, and the preparation of higher education students in alignment with international standards in animal welfare.
The Faculty of Biology and Technology remains dedicated to the professional growth of its academic staff and the adoption of best practices in animal husbandry and veterinary care. Certificates of completion were presented to several faculty members, including A. Belchenko, V. Vechorka, T. Kuchkova, O. Mykhalko, and L. Shkurat.
