On October 9, 2025, a session of the English-Speaking Club on the topic: “The Power of Media: Helpful or Harmful” was held.
The online meeting was moderated by Yuliia Lushchyk, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages.
During the online session, the following questions were discussed:
Do you think you are an active or passive media user? Why?
How do you usually use social media – to learn, to relax, to talk, or to show your life?
Do you ever take a “media break”? What happens when you do?
In what ways can media help us (education, awareness, connection)?
In what ways can media harm us (misinformation, pressure, addiction)?
In your opinion, is media today more helpful or more harmful? Why?
The participants shared their thoughts on the role of various media in the lives of individuals and society. The students discussed the advantages of different media platforms, the role of modern and traditional media across generations, and debated the positive and negative impact of media. They also presented themselves as media users, emphasizing the importance of critical consumption and responsible dissemination of information.
