Academic staff and PhD students of the educational program “Technology of Production and Processing of Livestock Products” of the Faculty of Biology and Technology of Sumy National Agrarian University participated in a webinar dedicated to new requirements for the welfare of farm animals during their housing.
The event took place on January 15, 2026, at 10:30 in an online format on the ZOOM platform.
Among the speakers at the webinar were specialists from the Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Department of the Main Directorate of the State Food and Consumer Service in Sumy region, who presented the current provisions of national legislation in the field of animal welfare.
The purpose of the event was to familiarize participants with current regulatory requirements for the housing of farm animals and to clarify practical aspects of their compliance in production conditions.
During the webinar, the following topics were covered:
- minimum requirements for broiler housing conditions, including feeding and care;
- minimum requirements for laying hen housing conditions, in particular, the provision of water, feed, and proper care;
- minimum requirements for pig housing conditions;
- minimum requirements for calf housing conditions;
- requirements for submitting documents to obtain a state certificate of sufficient knowledge and skills regarding compliance with animal welfare legislation;
- criteria that legal entities must meet to be authorized to train facility personnel.
The participation of academic staff and PhD students of the “Technology of Production and Processing of Livestock Products” program in such events contributes to increasing professional competence, updating the educational process in accordance with legislative requirements, and implementing modern approaches to ensuring animal welfare in the livestock industry.
