Research Integrity: First Steps into the Topic

Postgraduate students from the Faculty of Biology and Technology took part in a seminar titled “Research Integrity: First Steps into the Topic”. The event was organised by the Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Department for all of the university’s postgraduates.

Artem Artіukhov, a member of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Chairman of the Committee of the National Agency on Ethical Issues, introduced third-cycle doctoral students to the key issues.

The objective was to familiarise the participants with different definitions of “academic integrity”, “research integrity”, and “researcher`s  integrity”, to explore the similarities and  differences between these terms, and to review a range of effective measures to prevent violations of the academic integrity .

In a nod to community spirit, all attendees also had the opportunity to contribute to a charity drive in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, helping fund the production of adaptive suits for evacuation vehicles.

The seminar was conducted as an active dialogue, offering every participant a chance to share their views on maintaining academic integrity in their studies, research, and dissertation writing. Real-life cases highlighting both academic compromises and unethical practices in educational activities were thoroughly discussed.
