Date and place of birth: November 7, 1951 Plishchyn village, Shepetivka district, Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine.
Education:
1968–1971: Studied at Novochortoryisk Zoo-Veterinary Technical School, Zhytomyr region.
1973–1980: Graduated from Kishinev Agricultural Institute named after M.V. Frunze, specialty 'Zooengineering', qualification 'Zooengineer'.
1986: Defended PhD thesis in specialty 06.02.01 – Animal Breeding and Selection. Topic: 'Effectiveness of Crossing Red Steppe Cows with Bulls of Specialized Dairy Breeds'.
1995: Awarded the academic title of Senior Research Fellow in animal breeding.
2005: Defended doctoral dissertation in specialty 06.02.01 – Animal Breeding and Selection. Topic: 'Evaluation of the Exterior of Animals in the Cattle Breeding System'.
2011: Awarded the title of Professor of the Department of Animal Breeding and Selection.
Professional Experience:
Up to 1991: Senior Researcher at research institutions in Moldova.
1991–1996: Head of the Animal Husbandry Department at Khmelnytskyi NPO 'Elita', UAAS.
1996–2006: Head of the Dairy Cattle Laboratory and the Animal Breeding Department, Cherkasy Institute of APV, UAAS.
2006–2023: Head of the Department of Animal Breeding and Selection, Sumy National Agrarian University.
Since 01.09.2023: Professor of the Department of Genetics, Breeding and Animal Biotechnology, Sumy National Agrarian University.
Teaching activities: selection of farm animals, automated management, systems in animal husbandry, evaluation of animal exterior in the cattle, breeding system, genetic resources of animal husbandry in Ukraine, realization of genetic potential of farm animals, herd management.
Scientific Focus:
Selective improvement of newly created Ukrainian dairy breeds with in-depth research into practical and theoretical foundations of evaluating and selecting animals of the desired type, taking into account their exterior and constitutional features.
Grants and Projects:
2006: Preservation of the gene pool of Lebedyn and Gray Ukrainian breeds of cattle.
2006: Selective Improvement Program of the newly created Brown Dairy Breed of Ukraine (2006–2015).
2009–2010: Preparation of modern regulatory documents on animal breeding and zootechnics according to ICAR and INTERBULL requirements.
2017–2019: Justification of the methodology for improving and preserving the population of brown cattle in northeastern Ukraine.
Scientific Achievements
Supervisor of 7 PhD candidates, 1 Doctor of Philosophy, and 1 Doctor of Sciences. Author of 5 inventions and over 540 scientific works, including 6 monographs, 6 textbooks, 12 instructions and guidelines, 4 breed selection programs, and 20 programs for creating highly productive dairy herds. Author of 11 articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
Scientific School:
Head of the scientific school on selective improvement of dairy and combined breeds aiming at consolidation by productivity and exterior type.
