On October 8, 2026, the English Speaking Club held its latest meeting online.
The meeting was moderated by Oksana Lytvynko, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages. The event featured a guest speaker from abroad, Bradley Cimo (Arizona, USA).
The meeting’s theme, “Free Time Keeps You Going,” focused on the significance of free time and leisure in a person’s life, as well as the importance of maintaining a balance between studies, personal development, and relaxation.
During the discussion, participants addressed several relevant questions:
1. What does living life to the fullest mean, and how can this principle be incorporated into everyday life?
2. What role do leisure activities play in maintaining psychological well-being and enhancing quality of life?
3. Which leisure activities are particularly appealing to you, and what makes them meaningful or enjoyable?
4. How much free time do you typically have, and would you prefer to have more opportunities for rest and relaxation?
5. Is it reasonable to devote substantial amounts of time and money to leisure activities? What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of such an approach?
During the meeting, Bradley Cimo shared his personal experiences and insights regarding the effective use of free time, rest, and rejuvenation. His participation helped broaden the thematic and cultural scope of the discussion.
Students actively engaged in the conversation, shared their views, and completed a series of interactive tasks. In particular, participants shared their personal experiences with organizing leisure time, discussed ways to recharge after their studies, and watched a thematic video that served as a basis for further discussion. The English Speaking Club sessions fostered the development of students’ communicative competence and oral English skills, expanded their vocabulary, and encouraged critical thinking and a creative approach to solving communicative tasks.
The English Speaking Club provided another opportunity for students to refine their language skills, broaden their intercultural horizons, and boost their confidence in using English within academic and international contexts.
