COLLABORATION BETWEEN SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY: UNIQUE CATTLE HERD STUDIES AT THE DAIRY COMPLEX “VITALIIA”

PhD students and academic staff of the Faculty of Biology and Technology have the opportunity to conduct scientific research at the modern dairy complex “Vitaliia.”

The studies are conducted on a unique herd of cattle and focus on examining the role of absorptive crossbreeding in developing a herd of Brown Swiss cows. During collaboration with the industry, scientists and PhD students analyze the animals’ productive, reproductive, and exterior traits, assess the effectiveness of genetic resource use, and identify potential for further improvements in breeding work.

The obtained results are of great importance for increasing the productivity and genetic potential of the Brown Swiss breed. They will facilitate the implementation of science-based approaches in the practice of modern dairy farming and increase the competitiveness of the sector.

The faculty staff sincerely thanks the management of the dairy complex “Vitaliia” for their willingness to cooperate, providing suitable conditions for research, and supporting the progress of agricultural science. Such collaboration between academia and industry is essential for the sector’s sustainable growth and the training of highly skilled specialists.
