STUDENT SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE

On  the 2nd of December, 2025, the Department of Foreign Languages at Sumy National Agrarian University held the Student Scientific and Practical Conference “Information and Linguistic Security of University Students under Martial Law.” The event served as a culminating platform for presenting the results of two grant-funded projects implemented at the Department in 2022 – 2025: “Extrapolation of EU Strategies to Enhance Students’ Media Literacy in Ukrainian Higher Education” and “The Linguistic Dimension of the Concept of ‘Security’ as a Core Component of a Safe Educational Environment: European Experience,” both supported by the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module programme.

The conference commenced with an address by Viktoriia Vechorka, Dean of the the Bio-technology Faculty and Professor of Agricultural Sciences, who underscored the academic and socio-political relevance of the conference theme, particularly in the context of contemporary wartime conditions.

The plenary session was chaired by Maryna Bilotserkovets, Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages and Coordinator of the project “Extrapolation of EU Strategies to Enhance Students’ Media Literacy in Ukrainian Higher Education.”

The conference gathered a wide audience, including students and academic staff of Sumy National Agrarian University as well as students from Sumy State Pedagogical University. The participants engaged in scholarly discussions addressing a broad spectrum of issues, such as: information security in the context of hybrid warfare; mechanisms for countering disinformation; pedagogical frameworks for developing students’ information culture; promotion of safe linguistic practices; prevention of adverse media influences; the design of secure digital learning environments and safe educational ecosystems; the integration of ecological and linguistic competencies in chemistry education; and the educational potential of ecological and digital learning games, and other topics.
