On November 27, 2025, the English-Speaking Club held a meeting.
The moderator of the online meeting was Maryna Bilotserkovets, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages.
The invited guest was Mrs. I. Bruce, a social pedagogue at a school in London, Great Britain.
The topic of the meeting was: “ENGLISH-SPEAKING DISCOURSE IN UKRAINIAN MEDIA”.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the role of mass media worldwide and English as the language of international news agencies, the translation of modern media texts, and ways to adapt culturally marked and emotionally colored “PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS” for Ukrainian readers and listeners.
The students learned new English phraseological units, discovered their origins, and the cultural codes they reflect. Mrs. Bruce shared her experience with intercultural communication, as well as the specifics of speech etiquette and socially acceptable behavioral patterns in Great Britain.
