On June 11, 2025, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted a scientific and practical conference “Livestock Farming in the Food Security System: the Role of Genetic Resources and Food Technologies,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Lebedyn breed. The event was held in a mixed format: some participants took part on the premises of Private Agricultural Enterprise Komyshanske, while others participated online.
The conference provided a platform for discussing strategic directions for the development of domestic animal husbandry in the context of global challenges. The main topics were the following: preservation of genetic resources, the introduction of innovative technologies, and support for young scientists.
The event was attended by leading scientists, including academicians of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Ladyka and Ostap Zhukorsky, Yuriy Skliarenko, Iryna Romanchuk, as well as representatives of the agricultural business led by Volodymyr Zubko, head of Private Agricultural Enterprise Komyshanske.
The conference programme paid special attention to the exhibition of Lebedyn cows, a unique national genetic resource. Participants had the opportunity to see the best representatives of this breed and evaluate the exterior and productive qualities of the animals. The event once again highlighted the value of Ukrainian cattle breeds for food safety.
